Why Choose Guildford College

We're a 'Good' College

At our last full Ofsted Inspection in June 2009, we were graded “good” overall. Inspectors commented that “success rates were well above national averages”, “teaching and learning are good” and “there is very good academic and pastoral support”.

Diverse curriculum

We’ve got the resources and workshops to teach subjects your school may not offer.

Focused on you

Our smaller class sizes mean you get more personal help and attention.

It's not like school

At College you can call some tutors by their first name, there are no bells and you will be treated more like an adult. It is a privilege to be considered mature enough to attend College so your behaviour needs to reflect this.

Location

Both Colleges can be easily reached by bus or train.

400 acre outdoor classroom

Students studying at Merrist Wood College will benefit from learning outdoors on our 400 acre award winning estate. We’ve got a diverse animal management collection, one of the largest indoor riding arenas of any college in the country and well equipped workshops.

Ongoing investment

At Guildford College we’re leading the way in ground breaking new learning technologies with the installation of a new Learning Hub and suite of hi-tech classrooms. There are also plans for a new Construction, Technology and Engineering Centre at Guildford College and a new Animal Management Centre at Merrist Wood College, both planned for completion in 2015.

Progression

If you enjoy your course, you can progress on to the next level when you leave school at 16, either in the same subject or an alternative one. Some courses at the College allow you to progress all the way to degree level!

Real life experience

You’ll be learning in realistic working environments, using industry standard equipment so our courses give you real-life, hands on experience of your future career and what it entails.

Support

You’ll have dedicated support from the 14 - 16 Office whilst at the College, who will liaise regularly with your school and home to keep up-to-date with your progress.
