Why Study Here
You will have access to well equipped workshops in a purpose-built modern facility.

Suitable For
Apprenticeships are open to all age groups above 16years-old whether you are just leaving school, have been working for years or are seeking to start a new career. You just need to be living in England and not taking part in full-time education. There may be different entry requirements depending on the Apprenticeship and the industry sector. However competition for places with employers can be fierce, so you will need to show that you are committed, and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and the company who would employ you. You also need to be happy to work as both part of a team and individually, and be able to use your own initiative.

Application Method
Application followed by individual interview

Entry Requirements
You should be working in the industry and interested in developing your skills. Good GCSEs are an advantage and you should have already achieved a Plumbing NVQ Level 2 qualification.

Content / Overview

On the Advanced Level Apprenticeship, your skill base will broaden and you’ll be able to enter the profession at a higher level. For example you will able to complete and oversee work to install, service, maintain and commission;

  • domestic hot water, cold water, central heating and sanitation systems
  • domestic plumbing and heating systems, components and gas-fired warm air appliances
  • domestic plumbing and heating systems, components and gas-fired water and central heating appliances

Delivery Method
Training is delivered on a one day per week release basis at College where a tutor will monitor your progress.

Assessment
Continuous assessment throughout the course. You create a portfolio of evidence in the workplace and will undertake a small number of unit exams at College.

Progression
As a plumber, you could find yourself working in many different places – from construction sites to residential homes. Job prospects are good, with plenty of scope for self-employment.

Homework
You may have to complete sections of your portfolio outside of College or working hours.

Additional Information
For practical work, overalls and protective footwear are required.

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
