Why Study Here
Learn how to work with children and young people in a range of settings and contexts.

Suitable For
This Apprenticeship is for people who work with children – from birth to 16-year-olds (and their families) – in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development.

Application Method
Application followed by individual interview

Entry Requirements
You should have completed the Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship.

Content / Overview

The Advanced Level Apprenticeship is for those who work on their own initiative, planning and organising their own work and/or supervising others, for example, a nursery nurse, playgroup leader or a childminder working in their own home.

After successful completion of this Apprenticeship there is good scope for progression. You may move up through the levels of work, for example, from nursery assistant to nursery manager. There are also opportunities to undertake further training or assessment.

Delivery Method
Training is delivered in the workplace and an assessor will monitor your progress and conduct assessments in the workplace.

Assessment
Continuous assessment throughout the course. You create a portfolio of evidence in the workplace and will undertake a small number of unit exams at College.

Progression
We offer a Foundation Degree followed by top up Degree in Early Childhood Studies at the College.

Homework
You may have to complete sections of your portfolio outside of College or working hours.

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
