Suitable For 
You should consider this course if you are numerate and methodical. You also need to be able to write in continuous prose. It fits well with Business Studies, Law, Economics, ICT, Maths and Physics.

Entry Requirements 
5 GCSEs at C or above including Maths at grade B and English at grade C. You should be able to write well enough to produce extended answers, and although numeracy is very important, percentages is the most challenging mathematical calculation on the course.

Content / Overview 

This course provides an excellent grounding for a career in accounting or other areas of business. The course includes many of the fundamental disciplines within financial accounting, ranging from double etnry to the production or final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. At A2 you also cover the final accounts of incorporated businesses and cover the key management accounting techniques of investment appraisal, standard costing, marginal costing and absorption costing.



Delivery Method 
All sessions cover accounting theory and concepts plus exercises requiring practical application. Individual and group exercises involve solving accounting problems.

Assessment 
100% exams.

Progression 
Many students go on to accountancy careers or to study professional qualifications such as AAT or business degrees, available at the College or other universities, or enter a wide range of occupations within the business sector.





All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
