Suitable For This Advanced Apprenticeship is designed to follow on from the City and Guilds Level 2 course and is for Adults only. You need to be employed full time in the industry and be committed to training for up to 18 months.

Entry Requirements Good GCSEs would be an advantage including Maths and English at grade C (or Functional Skills equivalent).
Content / Overview This Advanced Apprenticeship covers the installation, maintenance and repair of electro-technical equipment. You’ll learn how to test and install electrical products. Focused College practical theory sessions complement on-the-job training. Modules include: diagnose and correct electrical faults, install electrical wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment, health and safety, inspect, test and commission and electrical installation plus underpinning electrical knowledge.
Because this is an Advanced Apprenticeship, apprentices will be expected to have strong practical skills and advanced abilities. You’ll need to be able to follow technical drawings and understand health and safety regulations.
Delivery Method You will need to be employed in the industry. Training is delivered on a 1 day release basis at College where a tutor will monitor your progress. You will be allocated an NVQ Assessor who will conduct assessements in the workplace.
Assessment Continuous assessment in the workplace, portfolio of evidence and exams.
Progression Guildford College offers a range of Construction courses up to degree level. Alternatively you could progress in your job role and undertake industrial
Homework You may have to complete sections of your portfolio outside of College or working hours.
All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
