Entry Requirements 
You should be working in the industry and interested in developing your skills. Good GCSEs are an advantage.

Content / Overview 

Construction is a multi-billion pound industry that deals with developing and building anything from a housing estate to a bridge. On this apprenticeship topics include:

  • General workplace safety
  • Efficient work practices
  • Move and handle resources
  • Erect masonry structure
  • Set out masonry structures
  • Erect masonry cladding
  • Lay domestic draining
  • Erect thin joint masonry structures
  • Place and finish non-specialist concrete
  • Plaster and render surfaces
  • Maintain slate and tile roofing


Delivery Method 
Training is delivered on a one day per week release basis at College where a tutor will monitor your progress.

Assessment 
You will be allocated an NVQ Asessor who will conduct assessments in the work place.

Progression 
On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Bricklaying (Trowel Occupations) Advanced Apprenticeship.

Homework 
You may have to complete sections of your portfolio outside of College or working hours.





All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
