Guildford College has successfully achieved Action for Business College Accreditation, the first in Surrey to be recognised for its commitment to local businesses. The award, by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the South-East England Development Agency (SEEDA), recognises the College’s dedication to providing an exemplary service to employers and responding to their business needs.
"We are proud to be the first college in Surrey to be recognised for our commitment to local businesses and this award is validation for all the hard work staff have put in to achieve this. We are already delivering training to 2,700 employees in the workplace and this will energise us to drive forward our business aspirations and work even closer with employers to meet their needs" said Tim Scott the Director of Business Development.

Guildford College has been working with nearly 2,500 employers via apprenticeships, professional qualifications, sponsorships, work placements and through offering onsite and workplace training solutions. The standard required the College to demonstrate that its provision meets the demand for skills from key employment sectors and local employers. The College will continue to work in partnership with other providers, to build Action for Business Networks, to ensure that it delivers the best training solutions to local employers.

During the process for accreditation, feedback from employers indicated that they felt the service they received was excellent and the College was "very flexible and responsive to their needs". The HR Training Advisor at Roadchef commented: "The opportunities and courses offered by Guildford College have enabled the management at Clackett Lane Roadchef to develop a strategy that will grow our people and business."

Mr David Davis, Chairman of Surrey County Council commented "As the students transfer from education to running businesses, they will be called upon to make many decisions and from the calibre of students here tonight, Surrey business would be proud to have them leading us into the future."
