Careers in the National Health Service, Care and Teaching are hugely beneficial but require a high level of dedication, responsibility and commitment.
At Guildford College, apprentices training in Health or Childcare can take advantage of resources including specialist nursery simulation and creative craft areas, modern laboratories and training equipment for the health care professions.
Childcare

This Apprenticeship is for anyone working in the childcare sector such as a day nursery or pre-school setting. The qualification is designed to help apprentices become more competent and confident at work.
Apprentices will learn how to design educational and recreational activities, avoid conflicts, handle difficult situations and understand the unique relationship that childcare workers can have with children in their care.
You'll also undertake a CACHE Certificate, First Aid Paediatric qualification, Children's Care Learning and Development NVQ 2 and Key Skills.

Hairdressing
|
Apprentices help with the running of salons by shampooing, conditioning, drying, cutting and colouring hair. They learn how to deal with customers, so good communication skills are important. Promotion opportunities exist to become a senior stylist or salon manager.
During the practical session in College apprentices will have access to the vibrant new hairdressing salon open to the public and may have the opportunity to take part in the hair and beauty show.

Health and Social Care: Adults
|
Health is a large and complex sector of the economy with a wide range of both employers and occupations – creating a workforce of two million people.
An apprentice working in health and social care will assist senior care workers and social workers to provide care services. All care workers are expected to have relevant qualifications. An Apprenticeship is therefore an excellent starting point.
