English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

If English is not your main language, you can take an ESOL course to help you improve.

Our ESOL courses can:

  • Help you gain a recognised English language qualification.
  • Develop your English so that you can successfully live, work or study in the UK.
  • Prepare you for the Life in the UK test and become a British citizen (Community Classes only)

Our ESOL courses are available at different levels – beginner to advanced, so you'll be able to start at the right level for you. Classes run Monday to Thursday, at times to suit you - morning, afternoon and evening.

You may qualify for FREE classes if:

  • You are unemployed and receive a contribution-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • You are unemployed and receive Employment and Support Allowance (ESA - a benefit for people who cannot work because of illness or disability).

If you qualify you must bring the relevant papers with you to enrolment. If you do not meet the above criteria, you will need to pay ‘Home’ fees or ‘International’ fees.
