Over 250 family and friends of Guildford College’s Hair, Beauty and Make Up students were recently treated to a visual display of creative talent at this year’s ‘End of Year Show’.

The theme being ‘Wonders of the World and Beyond’, the students pulled out all the stops to show case their creative talents at this eagerly anticipated event.

Staged on a catwalk,  paraded down by models showcasing some truly amazing designs and creations, was the culmination of a year’s work by Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Media Make Up students.

The evening, which opened with a fantastic performance by our Performing Arts Dance students, was hosted by Head of Learning and Standards, Fiona Palmer, and Hairdressing tutor Simon Rosam. This year’s competitions were judged by VIPs from the hair, beauty and make up industry such as Dermalogica, Brooklands Hotel and Spa and jane iredale®  Make Up who were also treated to a sit down dinner created and served by our Catering and Hospitality students in our own Park Room  Restaurant before the event commenced.

Winners of the night included Level 2 Hair and Media Make Up student Thomas Buckland and L2 Beauty Therapy student Chloe Inwards for their outstanding creations whilst 2nd year student Anna Lumsden claimed the Student of the Year prize and was presented her award by last year’s winner Ted Harrison who came back especially for the event. Awards were also handed out for 100% attendance across the year.

Tutor Charlene Nicholls said “I’m so proud of all of our students, they have all worked incredibly hard all year and it was great to see their achievements brought to life and showcased in front of their friends, families, peers and industry professionals alike”.

Level 2 Hair and Media Make Up student Eleanor Potter, who created a fantastic ‘Voodoo Tribal’ look for the show, said “I was so excited to be part of this event. We have worked hard all year to create our own individual looks and really enjoyed showing what we achieved to an audience. It was a great experience”.
