The Government funds and regulates adult Further Education and skills training in England. They pay a proportion of the cost to deliver the course and expect the student, or a sponsor, to pay the remaining portion. An intermediate wig making course which will teach you how to make and fit a full wig.

Completion of the wig making for beginner course

Delivery Method

It will be taught through practical workshops, in college, to get you started and learning the techniques involved in makeing a full wig. You will also work on your wig at home and finally learn how to finish them off in class. A small amount of theory will also be included especially on health and safety


You will need time at home to work on your wigs.


There is no formal assessment but a college certificate will be awarded on satisfactory completion of your wig.

You could progress onto other short courses such as: Fitting and styling a wig - 12 hours Advanced wig making - 40 hours

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position.

There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding (identified as 'no fee remission available on this course').
