The Government funds and regulates adult Further Education and skills training in England. They pay a proportion of the cost to deliver the course and expect the student, or a sponsor, to pay the remaining portion. Content / Overview 

This course follows on from the Level 1. An ideal course if you want to work in hairdressing. Topics include: cutting women's hair, cutting men’s hair, colouring and lightening hair, the art of dressing hair and styling men’s hair.

Entry Requirements

Diploma - At least two GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including Maths and English Language. You must demonstrate proven interest in the industry and have good references from your school or equivalent. You should also have a minimum of 80% attendance from your school/college/work.


Delivery Method

Practical and theoretical training in our vibrant hairdressing salon.


Test revision and theoretical preparation.


Continuous assessment in practical and theoretical work (graded pass, merit or distinction), preparation of portfolio.

Further Study

Hairdressing Level 3.

Additional Information

Hairdressing equipment, uniform and text book must be purchased for this course. Post and ordering information will be sent with joining packs prior to course start.

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position.

There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding (identified as 'no fee remission available on this course').
