Content / Overview 

The study of AutoCAD’s 3-D capabilities will enable you to represent components, arrangements and building layouts in realistic three dimensional views. This will enhance the presentation and interrogation of your prospective designs.

Topics include:

  • Setting the 3D modelling environment
  • Defining and using co-ordinate points
  • Modifying 3D solid objects
  • Performing 3D operations on existing objects
  • Manipulating a 3D model
  • Viewing 3D model in a variety of display formats

This is a follow-on course to the 2-D Drawing and Design course and is also suitable for students with substantial experience using AutoCAD.

Highly experienced tutors from industry delivering teaching using purpose-built facilities with the latest industry standard autoCAD software.

The course is suitable for those in: architecture, building services, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, production engineering and all those wishing to extend their AutoCAD qualifications.

Entry Requirements

You should have achieved a Computer-Aided Design 2D Level 3 qualification, or be able to evidence that you have substantial experience in using AutoCAD.



Delivery Method

The course is essentially hands-on each with student using a work station which reflects closely those presently used in industry.


Assessment

The course is competence based and you can progress at your own speed. Practical assignments, multiple choice exam and the completion of a log book of competences.


Further Study

Further CAD or construction courses at the College or elsewhere.


Additional Information

Access to a computer capable of running AutoCAD would be an advantage as free educational version of software can be made available for external study.



All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position.

There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding (identified as 'no fee remission available on this course').
