Theatrical, Special Effect, Hair and Media Make-up student, Eleanor Potter, with her winning creation at World Skills regional heats in July
After winning first place in the regional heats of the World Skills Competition held at Manchester College back in July of this year, student Eleanor Potter has been invited to compete in the National Finals being held at the NEC in Birmingham in November.
World Skills is an international competition which showcases the talents of young people from across the globe and encourages them to be the best in their skill of choice. It is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world that truly reflects global industry.
The theme for this category, Fashion and Photographic Make-Up, will be based on the Mexican Festival ‘Day of the Dead’ where all contestants can create their own interpretations on this theme.
Eleanor’s tutor, Jaceyann Smith, said: “I am delighted that Eleanor has been chosen to enter the World Skills National Final being held at the NEC Birmingham in November. Students are picked against their level of scoring from the winners around the country. She is now working on her mood board and make-up and hair design for the finals, ‘The Day of the Dead – Mexican Festival’, which she loves as she is very creative. Her hard work on Level 2 and Level 3 Media Make-Up over the last 2 years has been deservedly rewarded. This is second year we have picked up the Regional finalist award and hoping that we win the UK Final for the second year running also.”
Good luck Eleanor!
