Dance students perform 'A Night at the Movies'
Our Performing Arts and Dance students recently showcased their talents by putting on a series of performances at the Electric Theatre in Guildford to celebrate the end of year. Our Level 3 Acting pathway students performed 'Love and Information' by Caryl Churchill a kaleidoscope play of short scenes addressing contemporary issues about knowledge, technology and communication and our capacity to love. Our Musical Theatre students performed ‘Behind the Bars’ - a musical based on the theme of ‘prison’ and devised by the students themselves, featuring songs from existing shows. Our Dance students brought a hint of Hollywood to Guildford when they performed ‘A Night at the Movies’ - a mix of choreography set to songs from films across the decades.
Performing Arts tutor, Michelle Jones, said: "We were incredibly proud of the work that our level 3 students produced across all 3 shows. The actors set the standard extremely high with a fantastic interpretation of a very challenging play, the musical theatre students produced a real stand out show that demonstrated their exceptional skill and professionalism and finally, the dancers showcased some brilliant choreography with mature and refined performances. This has been an incredible year for our department and the student work in their end of year performances was real proof of that. Our students maintained their extremely high standards and commitment throughout and demonstrated excellent team work in their support of each other. We feel extremely privileged to get to work with our amazing students and we have no doubt that our graduating second years will go on to do great things in the industry."
